Jani Himanko, Jussi Laitinen and Petri Korhonen work as fishing guides at the Kapeenkoski rapids. They all speak English.
Our fishing guides always have the most up-to-date information on local conditions and spots likely to produce fish, and the guides can also provide you with the tackle for the duration of the fishing trip.
Jani has more than twenty years of experience in fishing tourism and the fishing tackle industry.
Some anglers recognized Jani from TV shows, videos and pages in both Finnish and foreign anglers’ magazines and videos. Jani continues to submit articles to Metsästys ja Kalastus – and PohjolanPerhokalastaja, two Finnish magazines focusing on hunting and fishing.
Jani has been a professional fishing guide since 2001. He started his operations at the Kapeenkoski and Kuusaankoski rapids. Jani feels that he is most at home when he is fishing for trout and grayling at rapids, as well as for zander in running water.
Jani, who started fishing at the age of six, says that he is a “mixuser” – in other words, he likes to fish with both lure and fly. In his free time, he enjoys fishing most when his mobile phone and internet connections are switched off.
At the Kapeenkoski, Jussi Laitinen is a truly trusted guide. Jussi has been guiding at the Kapeenkoski rapids as long as Jani, that is, since the early 2000s. Jani and Jussi teamed up to form a duo that started professional guiding at Kapeenkoski twenty years ago. Together, the duo also taught themselves how to run a drift boat.
Jussi’s calmness and his ability to read changing situations, combined with his experience and local knowledge, guarantee that the client will have positive experiences at the Kapeenkoski and Kuusaankoski rapids and at other nearby waters.
While Jussi prefers flyfishing for trout, he is also a skilled wobbler angler. Jigging for perch and zander, as well as ice fishing in winter, are also among the favorite activities of this angler who could catch a fish at the Sahara Desert.
In July, it is often difficult to get Jussi back to guiding as he has for years spent the midsummer weeks on Norwegian salmon rivers.
Born and raised on the Rautalampi waterway, Petri”Eräspete” Korhonen imbibed his love for fishing for brown trout with his mother’s milk. His hard-to-translate nickname is a reference to his being a true outdoor enthusiast. In the 2010s, Pete spent more time in a drift boat at Kapeenkoski waters than anyone else on this planet.
Pete’s hunger to put the client on fish is unparalleled and normally gives the client great fishing experiences on the water. His strongest side is naturally fishing for trout in rapids using both lures and flies. Petri also ties flies for sale. The flies are the kind of flies that the client needs and are primarily made to catch fish.
When fishing on lakes, Petri uses a Tracker Pro Guide fishing boat equipped with the necessary Humminbird / Minnkota electronics.
In addition to fishing, Pete is an experienced hunter and game warden. In fact, hunting trips in Finland and abroad are good part of the Eräspete’syearly business.
In his free time, Petespendshis hours in the wilderness, of course.
